I was really stoked when I found a bottle of Dogfish Head Theobroma on the shelf up at Liquor Max last Saturday. The description on the Dogfish Head site made it sound amazing.
Dogfish Head?s Theobroma (translated into ‘food of the gods’) is brewed with Aztec cocoa powder and cocoa nibs (from our friends at Askinosie Chocolate), honey, chilies, and annatto (fragrant tree seeds).
I was a bit let down by this beer, but in all fairness I do believe that it would have been better with a little bit of time under its belt (like 3 years). I might buy another bottle and see how it ages.

Thanks to a buddy, I was able to order some of my favorite beer today. There is a site online based out of Chicago called Sam’s Wine and Spirits where you can order Goose Island’s Bourbon County Stout. Again I am on the edge of my seat waiting for the big brown truck.

i haven’t posted anything here in a few weeks, i have been busy with a cournicopia of activities but none of them has seemed worthy enough for posting. I did brew a rather large stout yesterday as a first step of a two part brewing. I plan on brewing the “even bigger” stout next weekend so sometime around the new year i ought to be innundated with big bodied stouts (there are worse problems i know). Yesterday’s is bubbling away in its carbouy and it smells (and looks) quite tasty. I have decided to name this one “Emancipation Stout” – now i just need to come up with a similarly themed name for the bigger one…
